For Patients...
If you have chronic back or some other form of chronic musculo-skeletal pain, such as fibromyalgia, repetitive stress injury (RSI), temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), etc., and you think it may be stress-related, then you are a candidate for successful diagnosis and treatment with a mind-body approach.
However, the Seligman Medical Institute itself does not provide treatment to the general public; only to participants in our studies, which are not open at this time. Should you be interested in being treated, or want to learn more about our approach in general, we suggest that you visit our principal physician's Web site at:
More information for patients on tension myositis syndrome (TMS) can also be found there.
If you are interested in participating in one of our studies, please check back here from time to time. When the next study opens, instructions for participating will be given on this page.
If you are interested in lectures or seminars about mind-body interventions for pain management, we suggest that you visit our Foundation Coordinator's Web site at:
Then navigate to the "Lectures" or "Seminars" pages. Other instruction is also available from our principal physician as well.
If you are looking for a partial list of doctors who treat TMS, Dr. Schechter has compiled a list of doctors known to be treating TMS, which can be accessed at the following link:
If you are looking to have an online conversation with other TMS patients and others interested in TMS, there is a TMS community forum at:
Please note that the forum is not affiliated in any way with SMI. The information, views, and opinions expressed on the blog are those of the individuals posting the messages and may not necessarily reflect the views of the Seligman Medical Institute or any of its staff. Neither are they necessarily supported or endorsed by it.
Thank you for your interest.
